3A- My Entrepreneurship Story
Hello everyone!
I have been exposed to entrepreneurship since my childhood. My dad had a couple of small “businesses” when I was in elementary school. He ventured into the vending business as well as house flipping (before it was cool). All the while he was also working as a supervisor through the UAW. He was a busy man! In 2003 my dad left behind the UAW and his other small businesses and bought a pizza parlor. This is where he started his first small family business. I remember going to work with my dad and “working” there as my first job. A couple years later he opened up another pizza restaurant. Those family businesses are what supported my family through my middle school and high school years. I’ve seen the good and the bad small business owners go through, and it is something I commend them on. I have a couple friends who own their own clothing boutiques as well a small furniture store, and their job seems exciting and fun. However, suprisingly, it is not something I'm really interested in. Although it is very rewarding, it is also very stressful, and the unknowns are too daunting for me.
I am taking this class to achieve my BSBA in hopes to becoming a financial analyst. I hope this class gives me better understanding of what not only my dad went through, but also all entrepreneurs go through. I hope it gives me some insight to starting up businesses outside of the food realm and who knows, maybe it will change my mind on becoming a small business owner.

Great post! The fact that you are able to look to your parents for entrepreneurial inspiration is awesome! Your exposure to the ins and outs of operating small businesses on a day to day basis is sure to pay off if you pursue a career in entrepreneurship, however it seems that you will not. Regardless, reading about your personal story was interesting. Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteHello again Kaylee,
ReplyDeleteI think your parents are really great resources and it is amazing that they were able to offer you an opportunity to see what entrepreneurship is all about. A pizza restaurant is a great way to learn about hospitality as well as sales which are both crucial in the business world. Your story is really great and I hope you can turn some of the lessons you learned from you parents into more interesting ideas throughout the course.
